about

'At the end of the night we snuck onto the bus, the second floor of a double decker bus rolling through late night Berlin. I felt like I was in a really good movie...' Aaron Cometbus

Partly recorded on a broken tape recorder & partly recorded on a secondhand four track I struggled to work properly, the double tape 'A Lonely Trajectory' was the first Agitated Radio Pilot recording, after a slew of earlier tapes, where I thought the sound we were after was coming together, however haphazardly. It came together a bit better on the next recording, 'At The First Sign Of Frost'. Then the band fell into silence for a few years before re-emerging as a solo concern once more. Fond nostalgia & the occasional grimace accompanied my listening back to these tapes & I'm sure some of the others involved would rather their names remain out of it, but here it is. Attempts to marry Outkast (my obsession around 1996) with Peter Jefferies can be heard on 'Journeys To the Mainland' & it makes me smile to think of how much 'drumming' & bass playing I got up to in those days. Ray, who provided beautiful photos for the original artwork & has since passed on, likened some of it to David Vorhaus, of whom we knew nothing at the time. Glad he heard some of that in there under the mushroom cloud of hiss... I hear a lot of things in there now, ghosts among the tape spools, hours spent trying to draw ourselves out of all those influences. Perennial early nineties kids...

about

Agitated Radio Pilot Ireland

'Colohan seems to have a preternatural sense of the elemental, those dark places we all go to take off our disguises. So many artists have treaded this ground before and seemed insincere, but Colohan's vulnerability, his human voice that presents these unadorned truths without spin or motive, makes me want to listen and believe.'
